We are pleased to announce that Alice's Rest Comfort Home is ready to accept Hospice Patients
Although the physical location of Alice's Rest is Avoca, NY, our beds are open on a first come, first serve basis to all areas.
Alice's Rest Comfort Home is a comprehensive and compassionate two-bed home for those individuals on Hospice Services with a diagnosis of less than three months to live. Our home-like setting is offered at no charge to those individuals who meet our criteria. Each referral will be interviewed for admission suitability.
Family members are welcome to tend to their loved ones as often as they wish. There is a private bedroom with bath provided for occasional overnight stays. Death vigils are encouraged.
The home will be staffed with trained personnel and/or volunteers, ultimately providing personnel in the home 24/7.
We ascribe to the hospice philosophy of care that states all persons have the right to die with dignity and respect, to have enhanced quality of life and to be as comfortable as possible. Our primary goals are to provide comfort care, symptom control and pain management, as well as a source of respite for families of those at the end stages of life.
Hospice patients have few options if care is needed beyond what can be safely offered in their private residence. Presently, the options for these special people are to pass on in a Hospital or Nursing Home setting where families are restricted to visiting hours, and the setting is often perceived as impersonal and cold. Alice's Rest Comfort Home, along with professional Hospice intervention and support, provides the Hospice patient and their family with the best possible scenario - dignity, care, love, and comfort in a home-like setting. Alice's Rest Comfort Home will provide an environment that will promote resolution of issues, peace, and acceptance at the end of life.
Alice's Rest Foundation is actively seeking donations, both monetary and material, so that we can continue to provide this service to our communities.
